Kenya’s Parliament has started impeachment proceedings against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of involvement in violent protests, corruption, and divisive politics.
The motion, supported by 291 MPs, comes after a fallout with President William Ruto, raising concerns about government stability.
Gachagua, who played a key role in Ruto’s 2022 election victory, now faces opposition from both ruling and opposition parties. He denies the charges and claims he still has public support.
The impeachment is expected to pass easily, leaving Gachagua’s political future uncertain.
