After 17 months of civil war in Sudan, the military has launched a major offensive in Khartoum against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The RSF initially seized most of the capital, while the army controls Omdurman.
The conflict has led to widespread violence, including sexual assaults, with the UN describing rape as a "weapon of war."
Women in RSF-controlled areas face abuse and lawlessness, often crossing dangerous territory for food.
Despite RSF claims of preventing violence, reports of rape and brutality persist, highlighting the war’s devastating impact on civilians, especially women and children.
