Tunisia’s parliament has passed a law stripping the Administrative Court of its authority to adjudicate electoral disputes, just days before the presidential election.
This move has sparked fears of a rigged election aimed at keeping President Kais Saied in power.
The Administrative Court, considered Tunisia’s last independent judicial body, previously ordered the reinstatement of disqualified candidates, but the electoral commission defied this ruling.
Critics accuse Saied of using the judiciary to suppress competition and intimidate rivals.
Civil society groups and opposition parties have called for protests against the decision, claiming it undermines democracy.
